Visited this place while going to lahore from rahim yar khan they have amazing crockery. Purchased a lot of crockery from there the seller was very kind and amazing person. He showed everything with patience and deal very softly. The amazing part i requested them to do the delivery in lahore as i had no space in car and they agreed quickly to it and if things are broken in delivery then its their responsibility and today i received my order in lahore and everything was perfectPosted on Google![]()

Good options but limited. Sales person was also good and humble. Prices are little high but easily understood due to high cost of energy and labour in current times.

HANDMADE MULTANI BLUE POTTERY
Presenting Handmade Multani Blue Pottery, crafted with care! 💙✨ Experience artistry at its finest.
Made to Last
Blue pottery has been made in Multan for centuries, and the patterns still used today, the floral vines, the geometric borders, the eight-pointed stars, come from the tilework on the city's shrines. Each piece is thrown, dried, painted and fired by hand in small family workshops, so the shapes and brushwork carry the marks of the person who made them.
Vivid Blue Hues
The blue in Multani pottery comes from cobalt oxide, ground by hand and mixed with the glaze. Artisans paint the pattern freehand onto the dried clay body, then fire the piece at around 800 degrees in a wood or gas kiln. The firing is what fixes the colour, so no two pieces come out of the kiln exactly alike.
Functional Artistry
Beyond its artistic allure, Multani Blue Pottery is highly functional and had a widely production demand. From decorative vases, planters and Tea Set, Dinner Set to serving platters, our collection seamlessly blends art with usability, making every piece a unique and practical addition to your living spaces.
Proud Artisanal Tradition
Buying Multani blue pottery keeps a working craft alive. The money goes to the potters and painters in Multan who still make each piece by hand, and it is what lets them keep teaching the work to the next generation.

ABOUT US - A STORY OF PASSION
HMB Pottery is a family workshop in Multan making hand-thrown, hand-painted blue pottery. We started because the craft was shrinking, with fewer buyers at home and fewer young potters learning it, and we wanted to keep the kilns working.
Every piece is shaped on the wheel, dried, then painted freehand with cobalt oxide for the blue and copper oxide for the turquoise before it is fired. Because the painting is done by hand and the kiln never fires twice the same way, small differences between pieces are normal and are the sign of real work.
We buy directly from the artisans who make the pieces and pay them per piece, so the people at the wheel and the brush are paid properly for the work. Buying from us keeps those workshops running.
Our range runs from decorative vases and planters to tea sets, dinner sets and serving dishes, all made in Multan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the history of blue pottery in Multan?
Blue pottery in Multan has a history that dates back centuries. It is believed to have originated from Persia and Central Asia, and the art form was introduced to the Indian subcontinent during the 14th century. Multan, already a centre for glazed tilework on its shrines, became a significant center for blue pottery in Pakistan. The craft involves the use of distinctive blue and white glazes on pottery, creating the fine floral and geometric designs. Over the years, the artisans of Multan have refined and developed this art form, making it a symbol of the region’s cultural identity.
Which handicraft is Multan famous for?
Multan is best known for blue pottery, called Kashigari locally. The craft covers both the glazed tiles on the city’s shrines and mosques and the hand-painted pots, vases, tea sets and serving dishes made in workshops around the city. Multan is also known for its camel-skin lamps, hand-woven khussa shoes and blue and white tilework, but blue pottery is the craft the city is named for.
Which city in Pakistan is famous for blue pottery?
Multan is the city in Pakistan famous for blue pottery. Known as the City of Saints, Multan has produced hand-painted blue and white pottery for centuries, and the craft is still worked by family workshops across the city today. The technique reached Multan from Persia and Central Asia and developed here into its own recognisable style of cobalt blue, turquoise and white floral and geometric patterns. Blue pottery is also made in Iran, Turkey and in Jaipur in India, but in Pakistan it is Multan that the craft is named for.
Why is it called blue pottery?
Blue pottery is so named because of the prominent use of blue glazes in the decoration of the pottery. The distinctive blue and white color scheme is a hallmark of this traditional craft. The blue glaze is often made using cobalt oxide, giving the pottery its characteristic deep blue hue. The combination of the blue glaze and the hand-painted designs makes blue pottery visually striking and culturally significant.
What is Kashikari?
Kashikari, also written Kashi Kari, is the art of making and painting glazed ceramic tiles. The name comes from Kashan in Persia, an old centre of tile making, and kari, meaning craftsmanship. In Multan the same craft covers shrines and mosques in cobalt blue and turquoise tilework, and the pottery sold today is made by the same families using the same glazes and hand-painted patterns.
HMB Pottery Global Vision!
“By 2030, HMB Pottery will be the leading handmade pottery brand from Pakistan, featured in global design fairs, luxury home collections, and museum showcases, with every piece made by empowered local artisans in Multan.”
Will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy
Blue pottery has been made in Multan for centuries. The craft is known locally as Kashigari, and the same glazes and hand-painted patterns that cover the tilework on the city shrines are used on the pots, vases and tableware made here today.
The clay is dug from beds near the Indus, thrown or moulded by hand, painted freehand with cobalt oxide for the blue and copper oxide for the turquoise, then fired at around 950 to 1050 degrees. A firing takes about nine hours, and the kiln is left to cool for two to three days so the glaze does not craze.
